Training
All researchers (faculty, research scientist/engineer, postdoctoral scholar, graduate student, undergraduate researcher, visiting researcher, or volunteers) affiliated with MSE and working in a laboratory must complete the Lab Safety Orientation training PRIOR to working in the lab.
Note: This is the minimum required safety training; your specific lab may require additional training depending upon your research.
-
Laboratory Safety Orientation Training (online course, approximately 2.5 hours in duration): Laboratory Safety Fundamentals
-
Hazardous Waste Management: (online course, approximately 40 min. in duration): Hazardous Waste Management
-
Compressed Gas Safety: (online course, approximately 30 min. in duration): Compressed Gas Safety
-
Additional Safety Training: Safety Training
-
In addition to safety training, all researchers must review and sign the MSE Chemical Hygiene Plan. A hard copy of the CHP is present in each department research lab. A pdf version of the CHP is available here: Chemical Hygiene Plan
